Rebecca

My name is Rebecca Ashbrook Carrell. Thank you for checking out my website!

Let me tell you a little about myself. In order of importance, I am a Christ-follower. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter and a sister. I am a friend. I am a DJ on 96.3 KSCS fm…a country radio station in Dallas/Fort Worth. If you have stumbled across this page in another state, you can find us online at www.kscs.com.

My job is a blessing. I work with two of the most respected men in radio; TERRY DORSEY and Mark “HAWKEYE” Louis. We’re on the air Monday through Friday, from 5:30am to 10:00am. The best part about my job is that it allows me to do that which is nearest and dearest to my heart. Be home during the day with my two precious children, and satisfy my voracious appetite for bible study.

I love the WORD of God with all my heart. It is the very sustenance of my soul…the air that I breathe. Jesus Christ has changed my life. He continues to change it for the better every day. As you read my blog entries, you will learn more about me, and where I’ve been, spiritually speaking. As God puts it on my heart, I’ll share some of my struggles, in hopes that they will help you through yours.

Here is how “Love. Serve. Shine.” or “LSS” began. . .

The spring of ’09 should’ve been one of the best of my life. My children were healthy and happy. My husband was enjoying success even in a down economy. Terry, Hawkeye and I were recognized at the “Radio Personalities of the Year” by the Academy of Country Music. But I was in a terrible season of depression.

I decided I needed to get back into journaling and reading the bible. First I just thought I would do 20 minutes a day. That quickly turned into 30, then 45, then an hour. I started to take notes while I was reading. One day I was reading some of my “musings” to my husband, and he suggested I start a blog. That was the beginning of “Love. Serve. Shine.”

I can’t wait to see where this web site goes. Maybe somewhere. Maybe nowhere. Whatever God has in store is just fine with me. It’s all about Him anyway.

With all of my heart, I hope this web site will bless you. Please read the “About LSS,” and “About You,” sections, found at the top of the website. I so look forward to you joining me on this exciting adventure. God has put this project heavily on my heart. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride while He takes the wheel.
